NSI’s team of four, including Daniel Iman (lead author), has been honored with the "ISRS Asian Geospatial Award (2025)" at the 46th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS 2025), held in Makassar, Indonesia, in October 2025.
This award, established by the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS), is presented to the paper that demonstrates the most outstanding contribution to the field of remote sensing and GIS technology across the Asian continent.
Award-Winning Paper Title"From Fixed to Automated Mirror Arrays: Advancing Multi-Satellite Image Registration Toward Operational Harmonization"
Evaluated Contributions
The paper was highly acclaimed for proposing and demonstrating an innovative methodology for the automated and high-precision registration of multi-satellite image data, leading to operational-level data harmonization.
Technical Novelty: The team developed a novel method of utilizing an "Automated Mirror Array System" which, by linking with satellite tracking data (TLE), achieves real-time, highly consistent image registration without the need for manual adjustment. This significantly improves the geometric consistency between images from various sensors like Sentinel-2, PlanetScope, and GRUS-1. By resolving inconsistencies between high and medium-resolution images, the technology addresses downstream analysis issues such as inaccurate change detection. This solution offers a precise and reliable data integration platform for the rapidly growing operational use of multi-satellite data in the Asian region (e.g., environmental monitoring and urban analysis), for which its practical superiority was recognized.
This achievement confirms our remote sensing technology team, led by Daniel Iman, has made a world-class contribution to enhancing "data accuracy," which is fundamental to integrating and analyzing multi-satellite data. We will continue to strengthen the research and development of cutting-edge geospatial information technology and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society in Asia and the world.
